This moment, I feel like writing about M. Nasir... I disliked him...once...during the "Mahathir's" incident. I remembered back in the 90's he was banned from appearing at RTM or on TV because of his scornful remark on "Who is Mahathir?"... he was banned quite some time...and he never apologized...if not mistaken, however he got through after the 'quarantine'....I hated him then because I love Mahathir!
He is one of the bests..in fact the best artiste so far Malaysia's or Singapore's (because he was from Singapore) has, really...I do not know which country he actually belongs to. I've seen him of course on TV singing since long ago, I've watched his acts on movies...I've listened and observed him on many shows and agendas on music, concerts, dramas, movies, talk shows and stuffs... and believed he is the most talented and 'educated' artiste of the eras...
I love his musics, his thoughtful lyrics and his personality...with a little bit of arrogant though! I've learnt that he has been always inspired by related Quranic commentaries in his songs and his works. He also had past Islamic history embedded in his songs. Remember the Tanya Sama Itu Hud Hud, Andalusia, Bila Rumi Menari , Phoenix Bangkit Dari Abu and Kias Fansuri to name a few...
End saying, I will definitely listen to M Nasir all the way through. I've been listening to him since primary school till now...to me he still looks the same M Nasir 20 years ago...and wonder how he keeps himself that way. Mungkin amal baca Quran kut?
