GOLDEN NET

One thing that I couldn't live without when it comes to cooking is to read on and search details of what I am making.  As simple as a  batter of the fish n chips recipes to baking cheesecake, and tell ya...my most recent ice cream CONES..a good self-pat to myself, I would definitely make sure that I have everything on hand...be prepared for the worse...all the time.

How many a times that I did and made a recipe...and it didn't turn out as expected...sighhhh.  I've had a deeply frustration over cheesecake a few years ago...and I thought I have given up.  Well..it's me...I took up challenges pretty easily...

To cut short as I am not a creative writer...I just write as I wish.  Tonight is just another night that kitchen assignment filled my time.  I am done with the cone-thing during the day, Haswadi loves it so much...and I am proud of myself..well okay once in a while flattering thyself is no harmful at all.
I have always wanted to make  this one type of traditional Malay sweet or treat...the Puding Raja.  What is it?  I'll tell you about it once I got everything on the plate...till then go google okay.

First introduced to me a few years back by a dear friend.  I was make known it is the most popular sweet  or kueh amongst the royal family in Pahang...that is why it is called Puding RAJA...go figure.

Always wanted to prepare it myself.  Just recently a friend of mine here in Jubail gave out the recipes and it truly tempted me to do it.  It consist of layers of butter fried sliced bananas, the jala emas (golden net), and topped with nuts, raisins, cherries (dried) and served with custard sauce.  I did  looked around in the net for other variations or even if there is a step-by-step video or photos that could show me.  I managed to find a few blogs that talked about it. Yet I still prefer to stick to the recipe given by a friend here in Jubail.

This what happened tonight right after I put Noorah to sleep...she has not been sleeping since noon...oh my Noorah.

The first thing that you need to prepare before assembling the Puding Raja is to make the Jala Emas.  Made from egg yolks and pipe it in a boiling plain sugar syrup.  This I would say the most critical part of the whole process..hihihi.

This batch was not the finest one I supposed...as for my first attempt, I felt much more than satisfied...it works.  The egg yolk should be like threads of angel hair pasta.  Mine turned out a little curly...hehehe.   You need to use a special mold for this, I don't have it...even a piping bag.  What I did was to use a storage plastic bag that I cut a small tip at the corner and use as the piping bag...

Once drained from the sugar syrup, I lined up the 'jala'...couldn't get it more presentable...all sticky and hot..  And the next thing is to prepare the butter fried bananas...I will do it tomorrow.  Have to call it the day....till then ...

Apesal kuih melayu cerita omputih ni?  tadi buat cone bukan main melayu lah sangat...like I said earlier, "I am not a creative writer, I write as I wish,"  ngeh ngeh ngeh..
